I’ve been blogging for over 2 years now and well, I thought this year I’d jump on the bandwagon with ‘blogmas‘ and give it a bash.
For those of you that don’t know what blogmas is, let me give you a brief synopsis. It’s basically blogging daily throughout the month of December (or for the 12 days of xmas or just up until the 25th) to celebrate Christmas within the blogging community. The majority of bloggers try to keep it Christmas themed, some do a bit of a mix and some don’t mention Christmas at all but simply challenge themselves to blog daily throughout the month. It ain’t easy. It’s very time consuming (hence why I’ve never done it) but I thought this year I’d give it a go. Have fun with it. Even though I’m the busiest I’ve ever been in my entire life!
So, this is my first blogmas post. Hello. Let’s keep this one Christmas themed and throughout the month I’ll mix it up a bit. How does that sound?
I’m just going to have a casual chat with you all about what I’m looking forward to over the Christmas period: I’m going to start off by saying writing Christmas cards. Oh it’s my favourite. I try and write to absolutely everybody. At school, I was always the very first person to have written and handed out my cards. It brings me so much joy and I don’t think I’ll ever lose the excitement of writing and sending Christmas cards (and receiving them – of course)! Secondly, the buying of gifts and the recipient opening them. I love the thought of spoiling someone and seeing their faces light up from appreciation and happiness. I especially love buying for my parents, and picking them up lots of little things for them to open, the way they did for us when we were wee. The roles have reversed now. I love waking up on Christmas morning knowing my parents have loads of presents to open – it’s so exciting!
Something I’ve never done but I really want to do this year is go to the Christmas markets. I’ve heard so many good things about them and I feel like I’ve been missing out on something all of these years. I love supporting small business’ and I love the thought of all the little stalls and festive going-ons! I bet it’s a wonderful atmosphere. I really ought to go this year!
I’m not particularly excited about Christmas day overall as it isn’t the same without my Gran McElhinney and I don’t like Christmas dinner so I guess I just look forward to spending it quietly and cosily with my nearest and dearest and watching my Christmas special episodes of Coronation Street.
What are you looking forward to this Christmas? Will you be doing Blogmas? Fancy doing a Christmas Card swap with me?
