Not just any swing – Blogmas Day 18

blogger-image-1265826544

I sit on the swing and I

swing back and forth

back and forth

alone.

I wasn’t always alone.

It belonged to my Gran – the swing.

I spent many a summers day on this

precious swing talking of old times

and fond memories. All the while,

we were creating new ones.

Sweet memories.

And whilst everyone fought

over what they were inheriting

when my Gran passed away –

all I wanted was

the swing.

I sit in silence

and I swing back and forth,

back and forth,

wondering who will want it

once I’m gone.

Charlene, this is lovely. I could feel my nose prickle and my throat tighten as I read it. I do so hope you will continue to feel close to your Gran when you sit on her swing. Beautifully written, thank you for sharing. X

Charlene this was so touching and heartfelt, I could feel the raw emotion through your words! I can understand why this swing hold so many precious memories for you, your Grandma was such a big influence on your life and I’m 100% certain that she looks down on you every day and is so proud of the young woman she sees!
