Now that I’m ‘officially’ finished my first year of university, it’s time to take a step back from the strain of studying, and enjoy a bit of ‘me’ time. I’m hoping to do some adventurous and exciting stuff over the summer as life has been pretty repetitive and dull over the last year or so; and I’ll be sure to share it all with you guys. My blog has took a backseat recently due to university but I’m back! And today we are chatting about doing something different over summer and I’m excited. Let’s get in the mood!

The first thing to note is, always have a shimmy to see what deals are available to you, saving pennies on excursions is always a bonus because it means you can do more, yay! I always tend to go straight to Groupon for day-out-deals as they always have something unusual, inexpensive and fun for all of the family. There are loads of exciting activities to check out in Newcastle*,Glasgow, London & across the globe, should you wish to venture afar(!) I’ve wrote about Groupon deals before on the blog when I visited World of Wings in my local area; it was such a memorable and enjoyable day out that I’d never have thought of without stumbling across the deal on Groupon. So definitely keep your eyes peeled for decent deals over the summer period! (Also highly recommend Eventbrite for great, usually free, events in your local area).

Whilst we are on the topic of fun experiences , I’ve actually been invited along to GoApe, an outdoorsy forest adventure experience in the trees – that I’ll be reviewing some time this month. I can’t wait to go, it’s something completely different, and I’ve heard such good things about it. It’s going to be a fabulous day out!

Over the Summer, I have a few other things that I want to do, things that I have been wanting to do for ages but life gets in the way and you know how it is.

I want to meet up with some old friends. I’ve had a bit of an epiphany lately and realised that I don’t have too many friends, well, not close friends anyway. I hope to rekindle some old friendships and see some familiar faces over the summer as I just know it’ll reignite a spark inside me and give me some of my old personality back (I hope that makes sense). I’m also aiming to do something out of my comfort zone. Well, hopefully a lot of things, like the GoApe experience. That’ll be new to me. It’ll be a challenge, a good laugh and certainly out of my comfort zone. I’d like to take myself on a date to a musuem or something. I keep saying I’m going to do something like this and then I talk myself out of it; this summer is my time. I’m going to grab the bull by the horns and get myself to a musuem. There are so many fabulous musuems around Glasgow that I could take a trip to and I want to go by myself so that I can really take it all in. I’d also like to start going to open mic nights to try and get me back in to singing/gigging again. I need to boost my confidence. Badly.

Another goal this summer is to embrace the body positivity movement. God, I’ve wanted to embrace and love my body for so long, but first I must learn to accept it. I’ve still got a long way to go but I hope to focus on teaching myself body love and acceptance, predominantly on Instagram and on my blog, until I’m ready to share that love with the world. I aim to do more photoshoots for my blog, dress out of my comfort zone, and just live life to the fullest because honestly I hold back far too much.Β I feel like I’ve got this whole other person inside me waiting to burst out. It’s time to unleash the inner Charlene, I think.

What are your plans over Summer? Do you keep an eye on deals online? Can you relate to any of my ‘goals’? Let me know in the comments below.

I’ve always wanted to go to Go Ape! I’ve been on a few activities holidays when I was at school and always enjoyed them! I don’t like summer (hate the heat!) so I don’t usually make an awful lot of plans. But I have a couple of racing events to go to and my boyfriend’s cousin is getting married in Devon, so that should be a fun weekend!

I always think taking yourself on a date is so much fun. You really get to pamper yourself, or do things that you want to do. I used to go to the movies by myself all the time, and that was really fun. I could stretch out and eat as much popcorn as I liked. GoApe sounds like a really fun experience! I’m looking forward to reading your post about it πŸ™‚
